For The Media

The Manzanar Committee welcomes inquires from the media. Our Director, Communications, Gann Matsuda, is the official media contact for the Manzanar Committee.

To contact us, or to be added to our press release distribution e-mail list, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page. You can also reach us by phone at (323) 662-5102 (please be sure to leave a message. We’ll get back to you as quickly as possible).

Coverage of the Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage/Manzanar At Dusk Programs

All media (radio, television, or written), videographers (including those shooting documentaries or student works), are welcome to cover the annual Manzanar Pilgrimage and Manzanar At Dusk programs, always scheduled for the last Saturday in April. Please note, however, that we have strict guidelines for coverage of these events that must be adhered to, and the National Park Service, which administers the Manzanar National Historic Site, also has their own guidelines for media covering the daytime Pilgrimage program.

These guidelines, along with other media information, will be announced at least one month prior to our annual events. Press releases will also be distributed about the annual events, usually beginning in late January/early February.

All media advisories and press releases will also be published here on our web site.

Looking For A Former Japanese American Incarceree To Interview?

Strange as it may be, the Manzanar Committee has very limited resources from which to provide interview subjects. We strongly recommend contacting the staff at the Manzanar National Historic Site with your request. With their vast array of contacts among those who were unjustly incarcerated during World War II (or their families), they will be much better positioned to assist you.
