This year, the Manzanar Committee was involved in the 2016 Nisei Week Festival, riding in the parade on August 14 in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo and we were honored by the Nisei Week Foundation, joining Bunkado and the Little Tokyo Public Safety Association as recipients of the Frances K. Hashimoto Community Service Award at the Nisei Week Awards Dinner the following evening.
Thank you to the Nisei Week Foundation for inviting us to participate in the parade and for recognizing our more than 47 years of work to preserve and protect Manzanar for future generations and to educate others so that the injustices that our community was forced to endure during World War II will not happen to anyone ever again.
Below are some photos from the Nisei Week Parade and the Nisei Week Awards Dinner.
