National Day of Action at Manzanar

On Saturday August 23, 2025, the Manzanar Committee co-sponsored the #ProtectEveryPark Day of Action at Manzanar National Historic Site.

About 125 people gathered to speak out against the Trump Administration imposed budget cuts and QR codes attempting to erase the history at the site. Speakers drew parallels to the recent raids and detention of communities, similar to what happened for people of Japanese ancestry in WWII.

Thanks to our partners and speakers ar this important event: Friends of the Inyo, INYO350, National Parks Conservation Association, Jeremiah Joseph – Lone Pine Paiute Shoshone Tribe, Noah Williams – Bishop Paiute, Tribal Liaison for Eastern Sierra Land Trust, Jeff Griffiths – Inyo County Supervisor, and others.

  1. The Manzanar speakers pulled at that arc of the moral universe toward justice. That was a historic day at a historic site.
